Different Types of ROTC Programs

The rotc programs were originally founded back in 1926; ROTC stands for Reserve Officer Training Corps. ROTC is a college program that can be found at over a thousand different colleges and universities all across the nation. The ROTC programs prepare students and young adults to help them become officers in the United States military. When a student signs up for a ROTC program they are promising to serve in the military after graduation and in return they are guaranteed a post-college career in the military and their college education paid for. There are many different ROTC programs that you can join as a college student because each branch of the military has their own special program.

The Army ROTC programs is renowned for being one of the most demanding and successful leadership training programs in the entire nation. This program will help teach students leadership and military skills along with career training for their future career in the Army. The available courses take both in the classroom and in the field as well as being mixed in with the student’s regular academic studies. When you complete the Army ROTC program you are rewarded with officer status in the Army.

The Navy Corp programs are the single largest source of Navy Officers in the nation. These programs are currently offered at more than 160 different colleges and universities and consist of a mixture of military training and normal academic study. If you want to become a Marine Corps officer you will also participate in the Navy ROTC programs and also take classes in national security policy along with classes on the history of American military affairs.

If you are interested in becoming an officer in the Air Force then there are Air Force ROTC programs that you can choose to participate in. There are two different ones that you can do either a two-year program or a four-year program. Active-duty Air Force officers lead both of these programs.
